Cleveland Cavaliers at Chicago Bulls, October 12, 2012: Fan Preview

Yahoo Contributor Network

The Cleveland Cavaliers head into their third preseason game against the Chicago Bulls boasting a 1-1 preseason record. Both games showed a Cavaliers squad that still has plenty of work to accomplish before the start of the regular season on October 30.

It will be interesting to see how well Tristan Thompson performs against the Bulls in this matchup. In three games against Chicago last season, Thompson averaged 8.0 points and 9.3 rebounds in roughly 25 minutes on the floor.

Another point of interest will be how rookie Dion Waiters responds after being benched for what was deemed "lack of focus" against Milwaukee on Tuesday night. Waiters was drafted as high as he was to compliment Irving but is having a difficult time grasping the offensive philosophies.

Luckily the Cavaliers also signed C.J. Miles during the offseason, and he is having great success in the last two preseason games averaging 14.0 points per game and has recorded six of the team's 10 steals. Miles success may alleviate some of the pressure on Waiters to perform at a high level right away.

The matchup:

The Cleveland Cavaliers will take on the Chicago Bulls at Assembly Hall located in Champaign, Ill. on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 8 p.m. EDT.

The standings:

Cleveland comes into the game having lost their last game and with a 1-1 preseason record. They are 0-0 as the visiting team this preseason.

Chicago enters the matchup with a 1-0 record this preseason. They 1-0 at home this preseason

The overall regular season record between these two teams stands at 108-79 in favor of the Bulls. Cleveland is 49-44 at home, 22-13 at Quicken Loans Arena, and 30-64 on the road against the Bulls.
