University of Cincinnati quarterback Munchie Legaux underwent successful surgery on Friday to repair several ligaments in his left knee, the school said on Friday.
The Bearcats' senior quarterback was injured in last Saturday's 45-17 loss to Illinois. With about nine minutes left in the game, Legaux was tackled below the knees, his leg bent awkwardly. His left knee was hyperextended and ligaments were damaged, but there were no fractures.
Legaux, a senior, could be eligible for a fifth and final season if Cincinnati decides to apply for a medical hardship waiver. Coach Tommy Tuberville said that decision will have to wait while Legaux recuperates.
For his career, Legaux has thrown for 20 touchdowns and rushed for another seven scores while amassing more than 3,400 total yards.
