Chris Paul finished with 38 points and added 12 assists to help the Los Angeles Clippers beat the Washington Wizards, 113-97. The Clippers were on fire in this one, going 39-69 (56.5%) from the field and 26-31 (83.9%) at the free throw line. Los Angeles (16-9) gets one in the win column after losing to Brooklyn on Thursday.
Paul finished 11-14 (5-7 from three-point range) and 11-11 from the free throw line, in what was an efficient performance. Other top performers for Los Angeles were Blake Griffin with 16 points and 9 rebounds, and DeAndre Jordan with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Despite the loss, John Wall put up 24 points for Washington on 10-16 shooting. He also recorded 12 assists. Trevor Booker contributed 12 points and 7 rebounds and Trevor Ariza finished with 11 points and 5 assists.
Along with their eFG% of 63.0%, the Clippers connected at a rate of 42.9% from 3-point range. On the season, they are undefeated (5-0) when they record marks above 55% and 40% in those respective categories. Conversely, the Wizards are 1-2 when allowing their opponents to reach those percentages.
Washington (9-13) has now lost four straight games.
Coming up, the Clippers battle the San Antonio Spurs, who are 18-4 on the season. The Wizards meet the New York Knicks, currently sitting at 6-16 this year. The Wizards have a 1-0 record against New York this season.
