Welcome back, Bachelor Nation! In Paradise, things are constantly changing. One couple gets together, another couple breaks up, an old couple comes to visit and gives a date card to a new couple. But some things never change, and one of those things is that Ashley loves Jared. We can debate back and forth forever whether she loves him, is “in love” with him, or is “obsessed” with him, but any way you look at it, one of the driving forces in Paradise is Ashley. You have to give her credit. She is resolute about what she wants, and she will go after it until the very last ounce of energy is squeezed out of her (and everyone else).

Last week ended with some friction between Ashley and Jared and Caila, and once again, this week ends with even more friction between Ashley and Jared and Caila. The fact that Caila and Ashley were once friends makes this whole situation even more complicated. The fact that Ashley considers Caila competition for Jared’s heart adds a whole new level of jealousy to the equation. In many ways, Ashley says she is over Jared and wants to meet someone new. In fact, she also says she wants Jared to find someone else so they can both move on. She doesn’t, however, want Jared to move on with someone he actually likes too much. So does she really want Jared to move on? Is she really ready to move on? These are the questions that persist as we continue watching this whole thing go down. This may be the most pressing issue in Paradise, but it’s certainly not the only source of conflict at the moment.

Paradise isn’t always conflict though. I myself had a great time in Mexico. When I had some downtime between rose ceremonies and arrivals, some of the crew and I were able to sneak out and play golf on both of the championship golf courses at the Vidanta resort. Both the Nicklaus and the Norman courses are awesome, and those of us that played can’t wait to get back to them next year. While things were smooth sailing on the putting greens, things back at the house were going completely off the rails.

First of all, the new arrivals to Paradise were some not so familiar faces. Part of the fun of Paradise is that it’s a second chance for some of your favorites, but it’s also a second chance for some people who never really got a chance to begin with. Izzy never really got much of a shot with Ben; and, likewise, Carl, Ryan B., and Brett were all sent home on their respective seasons relatively early. Carl and Ryan B. were obviously fascinating to the twins, who each got a date (and who knows what else) out of these new arrivals. But what no one saw coming was that the arrival of Brett and his Lamp would tear apart one of the most unified couples in Paradise.

We all watched Izzy react when she saw Brett, but we all figured it would be a fleeting moment. Izzy had been connected to Vinny from the very first day, and to see her try to check if a spark was there with Brett while Vinny sat not too far away was shocking to all of us. The most shocked, of course, was Vinny. Their breakup was pretty rough to watch. Vinny comes across as tough, but he is a very soft and sensitive guy. He couldn’t just sit around and let Izzy flirt with Brett in front of him, so he decided to leave Paradise forever. We will miss him, but we also know that he will find the right woman soon. Maybe next year in Paradise? As for Izzy and Brett, well, we’ll just have to watch this all unfold!

It was so great to have Jade and Tanner back in Paradise. Playa Escondida is the place they met, the place they fell in love, and the place they got engaged. About six months ago, I officiated their wedding in California. They are living proof that Paradise is a great place to fall in love, and they came back to meet some of the couples and to give out a date card.

The date that they eventually sent Jared and Caila on was the exact same date they went on one year ago, so it was infused with good vibes. Will Jared and Caila share the same fate? Well, not if Ashley has anything to say about it.

Things are heating up between Nick and Jen and between Josh and Amanda, but the underlying hostility between Nick and Josh is about to come to a head. Everyone in Paradise seems to be questioning Josh behind his back, but next week all of that is going to come to the surface. You’re going to have to tune in to see the most explosive confrontation in Bachelor In Paradise history. See you next Monday, Bachelor Nation!
