Chris Brown Shows Support For Colin Kaepernick: “Proud Of My Brother For Setting An Example”

Chris Brown fully supports Colin Kaepernick’s decision not to stand for the National Anthem played during a pre-season game Friday (Aug. 26).

Kaepernick, a quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, remained seated as a show of protest against police brutality.

Brown posted a message on Instagram Saturday (Aug. 27), adding to the show of support Kapernick has received across social media.

“Proud of my brother for actually trying to be the change by setting the example!!!” the 27-year-old singer wrote.

Kaepernick elaborated on the silent protest after the game. “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” explained the 28-year-old athlete. “To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.””
