Eight months after shipping allocation money and what became the SuperDraft's No. 2 pick for Gabriel Farfan, Chivas USA has sent the player packing.
Chiapas on Monday acquired Farfan from Chivas on a six-month loan, with the Mexican side holding an option to buy the defender-midfielder. Farfan, 25, joined Chivas from the Philadelphia Union in May and made 14 appearances (10 starts) in MLS play.
The Club America product logged 51 matches (43 starts) in two and a half seasons with Philadelphia. Farfan's brother, Michael, is also in Liga MX after being transferred last month from Philadelphia to Cruz Azul.
Chiapas sits at 2-2-1 early in the 2014 Clausura campaign.
