An equalizer from substitute Kekuta Manneh gave the Vancouver Whitecaps a 1-1 draw against Chivas USA, which played all but 15 minutes of Sunday's match with 10 men.
The game changed just 15 minutes in when Agustín Pelletieri went in for a lunging tackle on Pedro Morales, and caught the Whitecaps midfielder's ankle with his studs. Referee Ramón Hernández showed a straight red card and the home side was down to 10 men very early on.
Despite playing a man down, Chivas USA took the game to the visitors, and was the better side in the first half. The home side was rewarded with a goal just before the half. Nigel Reo-Coker turned the ball over near midfield and Mauro Rosales ran with the ball and laid off for Erick Torres. The young striker's deflected shot wrong-footed David Ousted in the Vancouver goal to open the scoring.
The score would stay that way until 10 minutes were remaining. Dani Fragoso committed a turnover, which gave Darren Mattocks the ball. The Jamaican dribbled his way into the area and centered for Manneh, who finished low and to the near post to ensure Vancouver earned a point. After two games, both teams have one win and one draw.
