The Chiefs released ORT Eric Winston, the team announced Thursday.
Winston has started every game over the past six seasons. He signed a four-year, $22 million deal with the Chiefs last offseason. The release saves Kansas City $3.5 million in cap space.
Winston entered the NFL as a third-round pick with the Texans in 2006. He has played in 108 games with 103 starts.
On Monday, the Chiefs placed the franchise tag on OLT Branden Albert. They hold the No. 1 pick in April's draft, where a pair of offensive tackles — Luke Joeckel and Eric Fisher — are considered options.
