Alex Smith was a touchdown passing machine, but it wasn't enough to avoid a close loss for the Chiefs against the Colts, 45-44 in Indianapolis. With the loss, Kansas City is eliminated from the playoffs.
Smith had an outstanding game, scoring four touchdowns on 30 of 46 passing for 378 yards and one fumble. Andrew Luck also played well for the Colts, and wound up 29 for 45 with 443 yards passing, four touchdowns and three picks.
Knile Davis was a standout player for the Chiefs, rushing for 67 yards on 18 attempts with a touchdown in addition to seven receptions for 33 yards and another touchdown. Dwayne Bowe was a leading receiver, hauling in eight passes for 150 yards with a touchdown.
The Kansas City defense collapsed, giving up 443 yards passing and 100 rushing. They registered a single sack on Luck.
Finally, Ryan Succop was perfect, connecting on all three of his field goal attempts.
Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton could not be contained, putting up 224 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Running back Donald Brown was also solid with 55 rushing yards, 47 receiving and two touchdowns.
