Chiefs lose another OT to retirement

Offensive tackle Ray Willis informed the Chiefs he has decided to retire. The seven-year veteran was signed July 31 after Tony Ugoh retired five days into training camp.

The Chiefs have been looking to secure veteran depth at offensive tackle, where third-round rookie Donald Stephenson and second-year pro David Mims are the only backups on the roster behind starters Branden Albert and Eric Winston. Rookie second-round pick Jeff Allen, primarily a tackle at Illinois but drafted to play guard, has also been seeing practice time at tackle.

Willis spent his first five seasons with the Seahawks and has also spent time with the Dolphins and Jets. He was released by the Jets in June. He has played in 44 NFL games with 26 starts.
