The Kansas City defense had no answer for Jamaal Charles, but it would prove not enough to avoid a loss for the Chiefs against the Broncos, 35-28, at home.
Alex Smith found pay dirt two times on 26 of 42 passing for 293 yards and one pick. Peyton Manning also played well for the Broncos, and wound up 22 for 35 with 403 yards passing, five touchdowns and two picks.
Charles was a bright spot for the Chiefs, running for 93 yards on 19 carries with a touchdown and had two receptions for 27 yards. Anthony Fasano snagged three balls for 28 yards with a score.
The Kansas City defense buckled, allowing 403 yards passing and 132 rushing.
Broncos wide receiver Eric Decker was impressive, racking up 174 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Running back Montee Ball also performed well with 117 rushing yards.
The Chiefs head to Landover next week to face off with the Redskins (3-8) while the Broncos will play host to the Titans (5-7).
