Chiefs DB Washington arrested for marijuana after traffic stop

Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Donald Washington was arrested in Effingham County (Ill.) Thursday for possessing DUI drugs, unlawful possession of 2.5 to 10 grams of marijuana, speeding and driving while his license is suspended.

The arrest was reported Friday by 97.9 XFM in Effingham, Illinois.

Washington, 25, was stopped by Illinois State Police at 2:42 p.m. for speeding at 88 mph. The state trooper detected the smell of marijuana and found a small quantity of the drug in a backpack in the trunk.

Washington played college football at Ohio State University.

His bond was set at $20,000 and he is due in court Aug. 23.
