The last thing the Kansas City Chiefs want to see during this offseason of change is an injury to Pro Bowl running back Jamaal Charles.
So when Charles limped to the sidelines with a foot injury early during Friday's practice, there were more than a few worried looks among Andy Reid and his coaching staff.
But by Friday afternoon, Reid and the Chiefs could breathe a sigh of relief.
X-rays on Charles' foot came back negative, the Kansas City Star reported. It is possible Charles could be back in the lineup when the Chiefs begin a three-day minicamp on Tuesday.
Charles was injured on a running play as he burst through the line of scrimmage and another player stepped on his right foot.
He limped over to the sideline, where trainers removed his shoe and examined his foot and toes.
With Charles on the sideline, rookie Knile Davis from Arkansas took snaps with the starting offense.
