The Chiefs announced Tuesday the hiring of Dave Toub as the team's new special-teams coordinator.
Toub spent the past nine years with the Bears and his units produced eight special-teams Pro Bowlers.
“Dave is one of the league’s best special teams minds,” said Chiefs head coach Andy Reid. “I have spent time with him at a number of different coaching stops, and I feel he will bring an innovative approach and consistency to this group. Dave will get the most out of our players and I’m very happy he is joining our staff.”
Toub coached with Reid in Philadelphia from 2001-03 as the assistant special-teams/assistant defensive line coach for the Eagles.
The Chiefs also hired Eugene Chung as their new assistant offensive line coach and retained linebackers coach Gary Gibbs and defensive backs coach Emmitt Thomas.
“We have continued to bring in high-quality coaches to fill out the staff, and I am excited that Eugene Chung is in the fold as our assistant offensive line coach,” Reid said. “I’m also pleased to retain two dedicated and successful coaches. I look forward to working with both Gary and Emmitt as we move forward into the 2013 season.”
