Chicharito: It’s been a very hard season

There was at last some positive news for Mexican Javier Hernandez on Saturday. The forward netted in Manchester United’s 4-0 win over Newcastle United, after a season he admits has been difficult.

“It’s been a very hard season for me, but I’m trying to be very patient, and to work to try to speak on the pitch,” ‘Chicharito’ told United’s in-house television station MUTV after the game. “I have nine goals at the moment, so I’ll keep working, be patient and speak on the pitch like I always do.”

The striker knows the World Cup is coming up and is hoping for more minutes to prove himself to Mexico coach Miguel Herrera, following a period of little involvement for his club side.

“I need time to prove, whether they give me one minute or 90, that I’m ready and that I want to contribute to the team,” he added.

With Robin Van Persie definitely out and Wayne Rooney a doubt for the Red Devils’ UEFA Champions League second leg against Bayern Munich in Germany on Wednesday, Hernandez could start for the English champions against the reigning Champions League holders.

“We’re all ready to play, and that performance today showed that we are going to make difficult choices for the manager for that next game!”
