So much for Russ Michna's Most Valuable Player chances, although the Chicago Rush didn't miss the injured Michna Saturday night in the Bradley Center in Milwaukee.

Backup Luke Drone completed 27-of-36 passes for 327 yards and seven touchdowns as the Rush sealed a winning season with a 57-54 decision over Milwaukee.

Michna was placed on injured reserve Friday with a shoulder injury sustained in Sunday's 61-54 loss to San Antonio, which knocked the Rush out of the playoffs for the first time in their 11 seasons. The veteran from Western Illinois finished the season with 89 touchdown passes and just 10 interceptions in 503 attempts.

On Saturday, the Rush trailed 34-21 at halftime but stormed back as Drone made frequent and successful use of Jared Perry and Reggie Gray. Gray caught 10 passes for 173 yards and four scores, while Perry hauled in nine passes for 109 yards and a touchdown.

Marquis Hamilton chipped in five catches for 37 yards and two scores, including a 9-yarder with 2:14 left that gave the Rush a nine-point lead.

Milwaukee quarterback Gino Guidugli hit 28-of-37 passes for 378 yards and five touchdowns, but the Rush defense kept him under wraps for most of the second half.

Cornerback Jorrick Calvin broke up a 4th-and-goal pass from the 5-yard line with 10:48 left and the Rush clinging to a 42-41 edge. Following that play, a bench-clearing brawl broke out, resulting in the ejection of Rush lineman Cedric McKinley.

From there, Drone and the Rush's dynamic wide receivers managed to close things out.

The Rush finish the regular season next Saturday night in Cleveland at 6:30.
