The Chicago Fire are celebrating their 15th anniversary this year with a series of events for fans and the team. The club was officially founded on Oct. 8 in 1997, so the celebrations will culminate at the Chicago History Museum on Oct. 8. The team has already started recognizing its anniversary by honoring past contributions at the match with the Philadelphia Union.
Remembering the Past
Fans received an early start to the Chicago Fire celebrations at the Oct. 3 game with the Philadelphia Union. Peter Nowak, Chris Armas and Cuauhtémoc Blanco were recognized in a special ceremony after the first half. Although their return to Chicago is significant, it is only a small portion of the events planned by the club during this week.
Party at the Chicago History Museum
The main event will be the Fire's 15th anniversary party at the Chicago History Museum on Oct. 8. In addition to the current roster, the club has invited past players and fans. Furthermore, many of the Chicago Fire's top 15 players, who were selected through a fan vote, will be at the event. Tickets are still available for the party that will feature Brian McBride, Peter Nowak, Chris Armas, Lubos Kubik, Frank Klopas, Ante Razov, Jesse Marsch, Diego Gutierrez, Peter Wilt, Kelly Gray, Evan Whitfield, Dasan Robinson and others.
The Fire have decided to reveal the top 15 players selected by fans before the Oct. 8 party. Fans voted for Chris Armas, Cuauhtemoc Blanco, DaMarcus Beasley, Carlos Bocanegra, Marco Pappa, Lubos Kubik, Jesse Marsch, Peter Nowak, Brian McBride, C.J. Brown, Logan Pause, Ante Razov, Chris Rolfe, Zach Thornton and Frank Klopas out of 30 possible choices.
The After Party and Other Notes
The official after party on Oct. 8 will be held at the Filini Bar and Restaurant, and the club has posted photos of what fans can expect. Fans also have the option of purchasing a limited edition Chicago shirt with a portion of the sales going to benefit the Chicago Fire Foundation. In addition, a collection of special anniversary merchandise has been created. As the Chicago Fire celebrate their 15th anniversary, they are inviting fans to take part in remembering the club's best moments.
