The Chicago Fire edged the Columbus Crew 1-0 at Toyota Park, thanks to a late headed goal by Jeff Larentowicz. Follow GOAL.COM on Twitter
After a dull first half, the match came to life in the second period, and it was the home side in the ascendency. Were it not for a string of spectacular saves by Andy Gruenebaum, the Fire could have easily been three or four goals to the good.
Instead, the game was settled late off a long throw in. Austin Berry got a flicked header on Jalil Anibaba's long throw, and Larentowicz knifed in between two defenders to head home, giving his side a narrow victory.
After going winless in their first five, the Fire have now won two of three.
