Note: The opinions expressed here are my takes on the Chicago Bears' key players during the 2012 fantasy football season. As always, use your best judgment and conduct your own research on who to start or bench each week. You know your individual team and/or league situation better than anyone else. All statistics and point totals are based on Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football standard scoring system.
Jay Cutler, QB
Cutler finished the week earning 19.92 fantasy points against the Indianapolis Colts last week. This was 5.92 fantasy points more than my prediction of 14.00 fantasy points. This week he faces at Green Bay Packers' defense that allowed 17.74 fantasy points to the San Francisco 49ers' quarterback Alex Smith last week. The Bears' offense is looking good so expect a 16.00 fantasy point performance this week.
Matt Forte, RB
Forte had a great week against the Colts earning 18.00 fantasy points. This was 4.00 fantasy points more than my prediction of 14.00 fantasy points. This week he faces a Packers' defense that gave up 18.80 fantasy points to 49ers' running backs last week. Look for Forte to have another solid week earning 14.00 fantasy points against the Packers.
Brandon Marshall, WR
Marshall came through big earning 17.90 fantasy points against the Colts last week. This was 9.90 fantasy points more than my prediction of 8.00 fantasy points. This week he faces a Packers' defense that allowed 18.30 fantasy points to 49ers' receivers last week. Look for Marshall to have another strong week earning around 14.00 fantasy points against Green Bay.
Devin Hester, WR
Hester finished the week earning 2.30 fantasy points against the Colts last week. This was 1.70 fantasy points less than my prediction of 4.00 fantasy points. While Hester is a great option for leagues that count return yardage, he simply is not a great option as a receiver at this point. Look for no more than 4.00 fantasy points against the Packers this week.
Kellen Davis, TE
Davis failed to score any fantasy points against the Colts last week. I predicted he would score at least 3.00. Davis was targeted just once during the game and very little during the preseason. It appears he will play a very light role in the Bears offense this season. I would strongly recommend seeking other options if considering starting Davis.
Defense
Chicago's team defense scored 14.00 fantasy points against the Colts last week. This was 3.00 fantasy points more than my prediction of 11.00 fantasy points. This week they face a Packers' team that allowed 5.00 fantasy points to the 49ers' team defense last week. It will be a tough matchup but the Packers will likely be playing without wide receiver Greg Jennings. Because of this, look for 8.00 fantasy points this week.
