The Chicago Bears got down to the mandated 75 player roster limit about an hour before the 3pm central deadline.

The Chicago Bears' roster is now at 75 for the preseason finale against the Cleveland Browns.

With Isaiah Frey being released that leaves only 1st rounder Shea McClellin and 2nd rounder Alshon Jeffery from Phil Emery's initial Chicago draft class.

I suppose that's a good sign from a general manager, in not sticking with "his guys" just because of draft status, but you'd really like to see a GM hit on more than a couple picks. To his defense, Emery started his Bears' job too late in the game to implement his draft criteria, and he was working off Jerry Angelo's cliff-notes.

Frey inherited the was the nickleback job last off season when the Bears lost Kelvin Hayden to injury. With Hayden back healthy and rookie Kyle Fuller in the mix at defensive back, there was no need for Frey.

James Brown made the Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2012. He was forced into three starts that year, but he didn't play at all in 2013.

What are your thoughts on these two cuts?
