Chelsea forward Eden Hazard expects to be fit to face Tottenham on Saturday despite suffering a minor ankle injury on international duty.

While playing for Belgium against Ivory Coast on Wednesday, the in-form Blues man came off badly in a challenge with Cheikh Tiote and his ankle became swollen.

However, neither the player nor his national coach, Marc Wilmots, were too perturbed by the incident.

"It hurt but I think I can play this weekend," Hazard told Het Laatste Nieuws. "After 20 seconds I got a kick. A nice welcome but I'm not worried about the injury."

"[Hazard's] sock was broken and his ankle was immediately quite swollen," Wilmots added. "Such things happen in top-class football. His boot was damaged but Eden hasn't twisted his ankle."

Hazard has already made 41 appearances for the Blues so far this season and accepts that, while he remains fresh enough for now, he must be careful to avoid any risk of burnout.

"I'm not that tired," the winger said. "In the first half against Fulham I felt it a bit but, in the second, I found my flow back.

"I don't need that much rest — I'm at my best when I can play a lot of games — but I have to be careful that I don't burn myself. I'm in super form — something you see in the stats and in my consistency. I see similarities with my last season in Lille."
