The 49ers (6-1) broke an early 4-4 tie with a 20-6 run sparked by two 3-pointers from Denzel Ingram, but UNC Asheville climbed back to cut their deficit to seven at the half.
Charlotte pushed the lead in the second half as a quick 10-0 run gave them their largest advantage of 74-51. They allowed just five points in the final seven minutes and shot 50.9 percent from the field.
Four players scored in double figures for Charlotte as Ingram had 14 and Mike Thorne Jr. contributed 12 with nine boards. Pierria Henry dished out eight assists and had seven rebounds.
The Bulldogs (1-7) were just 20 of 58 on field goal attempts. They were led by Jaron Lane with 23 points, while Sam Hughes added 14.
