Super Bowl 50 on Yahoo Sports:

Charlotte 68, Richmond 63

The SportsXchange

Charlotte took advantage of a Richmond meltdown to make eight free throws in the final five seconds and earn an improbable 68-63 victory over Richmond on Thursday in the first round of the Atlantic 10 tournament.

The Spiders led 63-60 with five seconds to play, and opted to foul Pierra Henry instead of allowing an attempt at a game-tying three-pointer. After Henry made the first attempt, Richmond's Derrick Williams was called for a technical foul. Henry hit three more free throws to give the 49ers the lead.

After Henry was fouled on the inbounds pass, Richmond coach Chris Mooney was called for two technical fouls and was ejected. Five more Henry free throws provided the final margin.

Henry had 28 points to lead Charlotte, which moves on to face top-seeded St. Louis in the quarterfinals on Friday. Willie Clayton chipped in with 18.

Cedric Lindsay had 19 for Richmond, including four free throws in the final minute that appeared to put the Spiders in position to win. Terry Allen added 14 points and nine rebounds off the bench. The Spiders finish the season 18-14.
