AP - Sports

BOONE, N.C. (AP) -- Christian Reyes rushed for a season-high 167 yards and a touchdown as Charleston Southern edged Appalachian State 27-24 on Saturday.

After Appalachian State (1-3) built a 14-7 lead, Reyes tied the game with a 14-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. The teams then traded field goals to send the game to the half tied at 17-17.

The Buccaneers (5-0) found their first lead of the game with a third-quarter field goal before the Mountaineers responded with a 65-yard touchdown pass from Kameron Bryant to Marcus Cox, giving Appalachian State a 24-20 lead. Cox also rushed for two touchdowns to lead the Appalachian State offense.

But Charleston Southern's Daniel Croghan III found Kevin Glears for a 15-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter and the Buccaneers held on for the win.

Charleston Southern broke a school record in winning its fourth road contest of the year.
