Chargers released Hester, Novak; waive QB Lee

There were several notable names among the Chargers' moves to reach Friday's 53-man roster limit.

Nate Kaeding has won the tight battle for the kicking job with Nick Novak released, and veteran fullback Jacob Hester was also released, along with offensive tackles Anthony Davis and Mario Henderson and defensive end Jacques Cesair.

Safety Sean Cattouse was placed on injured reserve.

The biggest name among those waived was rookie quarterback Jarrett Lee. Also waived were running back Edwin "Rock" Baker, offensive lineman Colin Baxter, linebacker Bront Bird, offensive lineman Charlie Bryant, linebackers Ricky Elmore and Darryl Gamble, cornerback Greg Gatson, defensive end Logan Harrell, cornerbacks Arthur Hobbs and DeAndre Presley, punter Robert Malone, defensive end, Damik Scafe, offensive lineman Stephen Schilling, tight end Kory Sperry and wide receiver Mike Willie.
