Chargers lose RB Dexter McCluster to odd household injury

This hasn’t been a good season for the San Diego Chargers when it comes to injuries. The team already has 16 players on injured reserve and on Saturday reportedly added a 17th: running back Dexter McCluster.

And McCluster can lay claim to the strangest injury of them all: according to the San Diego Union-Tribune’s Michael Gehlken, McCluster broke his arm on Friday night “during a household accident involving the movement of luggage,” whatever exactly that means. Gehlken cited sources on the report.

McCluster had his arm x-rayed on Saturday, which confirmed the fracture, and the team placed the 28-year old on the reserve/non-football injury list and will miss the rest of the season.

The seventh-year veteran began the season with the Tennessee Titans but was cut on September 2. The Chargers signed him on Sept. 20, and he played in six games, serving primarily as a punt and kickoff returner and playing sparingly on offense.
