Chad Johnson, also known as Chad Ochocinco, has seen his life virtually falling apart after his arrest on Sunday, August 12, 2012. The NFL player had been arrested for allegedly hitting his wife with his head. Johnson and Evelyn Lozada had been married in July of 2012. He had been fired from the Miami Dolphins after the arrest and now his reality show has been cancelled by VH1. The reality show was to have shown the lives of Johnson and his new bride. He is not the first NFL player to appear in a reality show. Here is a look at five reality shows, or potential reality shows, that involved one or more NFL players.
"Hard Knocks" is a reality show, produced by NFL Films, that gives fans an inside look at training camp. The series first premiered in 2001 when it followed the Baltimore Ravens. The series skipped the 2011 season. This year, oddly enough, the series is following the Miami Dolphins. The series appears on HBO.
Antonio Cromartie, who plays for the New York Jets, and his wife Terricka Cason have two children. Cromartie also has eight other children to seven other women. The women wanted to have a reality show but Cromartie refused to allow his children to be filmed for the show. Fans of the NFL may remember that Cromartie did not seem to have a working knowledge of his children's names when filmed for an NFL reality show.
"4th and Long"
The show "4th and Long" was a competitive reality show that followed 12 men who were competing for a spot in the Dallas Cowboys' training camp. In 2009, Jesse Holley won the show and signed with the Cowboys. After the Cowboys were plagued by injuries in late 2010, Holley had the chance to show what he could do. He made a major play that set up the winning play in a game for the Cowboys.
Kroy Biermann plays for the Atlanta Falcons. He may be remembered more to some as the husband of Kim Zolciak. The two met during filming of a reality show that Zolciak was appearing in. The pair then had their own reality show that chronicled their first child and their wedding preparations.
While he was a player in the NFL, Hank Baskett was on a reality show with Kendra Wilkinson. The show followed the couple's wedding and time together through the ups and downs of Baskett's career. The couple had one child during the run of the show.
