CFB roundup: Penn State LB Mauti, Michigan RB Toussaint injured
Penn State senior linebacker Michael Mauti sustained an injury to his left knee in the first quarter of Saturday's game against Indiana and was carted off the field.
Mauti, a senior who had surgery last season for a torn anterior cruciate ligament in the same knee, was injured when he was blocked by Indiana running back D'Angelo Roberts.
Mauti was on the ground in pain before being carted off.
Mauti leads the team with 93 tackles. He is ranked as the nation's No. 3 inside linebacker by NFLDraftScout.com
---Michigan running back Fitzgerald Toussaint was carted off the field with his left leg immobilized in a brace during the first quarter of Saturday's game against Iowa, ESPN.com reported.
Toussaint, a junior, was hit as he came close to running out of bounds. He was on the field for several minutes before trainers boarded up his left leg and put him on the cart.
Toussaint had three carries for 31 yards before the injury. He has 483 rushing yards with five touchdowns this season. He ran for more than 1,000 yards last year.
Denard Robinson returned from a two-game absence because of a right elbow injury, started at running back. The senior was the team's quarterback before the injury, which has made it difficult for him to correctly hold or grip a football.
Robinson has 4,175 rushing yards with 41 touchdowns with Michigan. He holds the Big Ten quarterback rushing record. He has also thrown for 6,250 yards with 49 TDs. His 10,425 combined offensive yards are a Michigan career record.
Devin Gardner, who filled in for Robinson, started at quarterback for the Wolverines.
