CFB Roundup: Ohio State mulls starting quarterback

The SportsXchange

Fourth-ranked Ohio State listed quarterbacks Braxton Miller and Kenny Guiton as co-starters on the depth chart for Saturday night's Big Ten opener against No. 23 Wisconsin in Columbus.

Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer will wait to name a starter until he watches Miller in practices leading up to the game.

Guiton started the past two games and played most of a third game in place of Miller, who has a sprained knee. The senior made the most of the opportunity, throwing 12 touchdown passes this season and receiving back-to-back Big Ten offensive player of the week awards.

Last week against Florida A&M, Guiton set a school record with six touchdown passes, all in the first half of a 76-0 rout.

Meyer had hoped Miller would be ready to play in last week's final non-conference game, but the staff decided to give his injured knee one more week to heal.

Miller, a junior, was the Big Ten player of the year and finished fifth in the Heisman Trophy balloting last season.

---Central Florida starting linebacker Willie Mitchell remains on indefinite suspension after a DUI arrest earlier this month.

Mitchell did not play in UCF's win at Penn State on Sept. 14 and will not see action in Saturday's home game against No. 13 South Carolina.

The junior was arrested by university police and charged with the driving under the influence, a first-degree misdemeanor, on Sept. 7. He pleaded not guilty to the charges, according to court records.

Coach George O'Leary said the suspension will remain in effect until the university's Office of Student Conduct has a hearing on the matter.

Mitchell started the Golden Knights' first two games this season and had eight tackles, including six solos.

UCF plays Memphis the following week in its AAC opener.
