CBK Roundup: Uthoff to visit Marquette, Va. Tech's Finney-Smith seeks transfer

The SportsXchange

Former Wisconsin forward Jarrod Uthoff plans to visit in-state rival Marquette this week, according to a report from IowaPrepSports.com.

Utoff has already made an official visit to Iowa State, and plans to visit with Florida in the next two weeks. He was recently relieved of many transfer restrictions once imposed by Badgers coach Bo Ryan.

Those three schools, as well as the entire Big Ten and Atlantic Coast Conferences, were listed among those denied permission to contact Uthoff in April, when he originally submitted his transfer request to the athletics department.

The Marquette-Wisconsin rivalry dates to 1917, and has been played every year since 1957.

---Virgina Tech forward Dorian Finney-Smith will seek a transfer after one season with the school, according to a Hampton Roads Daily Press report.

The release was requested by Finney-Smith's mother, Desiree Finney, during a meeting with Tom Gabbard, Virginia Tech associate athletic director in charge of basketball, and coach James Johnson. It comes two weeks after Virginia Tech fired coach Seth Greenberg and hired former Tech assistant coach Johnson.

An ACC all-freshman team member in 2012, Finney-Smith averaged 6.3 points and 7.0 rebounds as a freshman. He started 30 of 33 games.
