Cavs pick up waived Wizard LivingstonBy The Sports Xchange | The SportsXchange – Wed, Dec 26, 2012 10:40 AM EST
The Cleveland Cavaliers claimed Washington Wizards castoff Shaun Livingston off waivers Tuesday and waived guard Donald Sloan. Livingston, 27, who was released Sunday by the Wizards, will back up Cavs point guard Kyrie Irving, The Plain Dealer reported in Cleveland. The Cavs will be the 6-foot-7 Livingston's fifth team in five years. He averaged 3.7 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 17 games, including four starts, for the Wizards this season. Guard Jeremy Pargo has been one of Irving's backups at the point. He started 11 games while Irving was out with a broken finger and averaged 14.5 points and 4.4 assists but has seen reduced playing time recently. Sloan, who also filled a reserve role at point guard, averaged 4.1 points and 1.9 assists this season. The Cavs will play at Washington on Wednesday night without center Anderson Varejao, who will miss a fourth straight game with a bruised right knee.
