The Cleveland Indians claimed outfielder Ezequiel Carrera off waivers from the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday.
Carrera, 25, had played in 13 games for the Phillies this season and was 1 for 13 at the plate. He was with the Indians during spring training but then claimed by the Phillies on April 2 after Cleveland designated him for assignment.
When outfielder Delmon Young was activated earlier this week, the Phillies made the roster move with Carrera.
Carrera played for the Indians in 2011 and 2012, batting .255 with two home runs, 25 RBI and 18 stolen bases in 116 games.
To make room on the 40-man roster, the Indians designated first baseman Mike McDade for assignment.
