Carolina: Picking up seven undrafted free agents

With the draft being over, the Carolina Panthers filled some positions that were needed with undrafted free agents. Grabbing some undrafted free agents saves the Panthers some money, because the free agents will not be paid as much as their drafted rookie counterparts.

The Panthers are bringing these players and giving them a great shot at making the team. They all have a chance to contribute, offense, defense, or special teams. They have a chance to show that they are deserving of being in the NFL. Some never get this close to an NFL field.

The Panthers did well in picking up seven undrafted free agents. Linebacker Jeremy Cash from Duke University, wide receiver Keyarris Garrett from Tulsa, tight end Andrew Bonnet from North Dakota State, fullback/running back Devon Johnson from Marshall, tight end Jake McGee from Florida, linebacker Jared Norris from Utah, wide receiver Jenson Stoshak from Florida Atlantic, all very good players in their own right just undrafted.

The players were looked at hard and for whatever reason were not drafted, but left enough of an impression on the Panthers that they all got calls from the Panthers organization. That fact alone shows that an impact was made on the powers that be.

All seven free agents have agreed to terms, but their contracts are not official until they get signed when they come in for rookie minicamp in mid May.

The Panthers picking up quality free agents right after the draft will serve them well. The Panther roster is at 85 right now. The limit is 90 players.

Now that the draft is out of the way players and coaches are starting to chomp at the bit to get ready for the 2016.
