DeAngelo Williams had a big day for the offense, leading the way to a solid victory for the Panthers over the Jets, 30-20, at home.
Cam Newton completed the game 16 for 24 with 273 yards passing, one touchdown and no interceptions. Geno Smith went 15 of 28 with 167 yards passing, one touchdown and one pick for the Jets.
Williams ran all over the Jets for 81 yards on 15 attempts in addition to three receptions for 87 yards and a score. In the second quarter, he found a hole in the defense for a 72-yard catch for a score. Greg Olsen was a weapon for the offense, catching five balls for 88 yards.
The Carolina defensive unit led the way to a victory, giving up 157 yards rushing and 167 passing while taking back one interception for a touchdown. They harassed Smith and the Jets offensive line with an imposing four sacks.
Lastly, Graham Gano was perfect, hitting all three of the field goals he attempted.
Jets tight end Jeff Cumberland gave a standout effort with 50 receiving yards and one touchdown. Running back Chris Ivory also had a good game with 66 rushing yards.
Next week, the Panthers are at home against the Saints (10-3) while the Jets play the Browns (4-10), also at home.
