Arizona Cardinals tight end Todd Heap took a $1 million pay cut for the season, according to The SidelineView.com.

Heap is at risk of losing his job to 2011 third round pick Rob Housler, with whom the Cardinals are reportedly impressed.

NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk wrote that many veterans take pay cuts to increase their chances of staying with their respective teams. Heap's salary will drop from $2.15 million to $1.15 million this year.

Heap is set to become a free agent after this season. Heap, an 11-year veteran, will be a free agent after this year.

Linebacker Stewart Bradley also took a pay cut from the Cardinals.

Heap had 24 catches for 283 yards and a touchdown last year while splitting time at tight end with Housler and Jeff King.

Heap has struggled with injuries in recent years and his production has dropped.
