Cardinals sign ex-Brown DE Rucker

The SportsXchange

Defensive end Frostee Rucker, released in February by the Cleveland Browns, signed a one-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday.

Rucker, signed by the Browns as a free agent for one season and $6 million last year after six seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, started 16 games with Cleveland and finished with 48 tackles and four sacks in his one season with the Browns.

The 29-year-old Rucker was a favorite of coach Pat Shurmur and general manager Tom Heckert, who were fired after the Browns went 5-11 last season.

Rucker is the second defensive end to sign with Arizona in the last week, joining Matt Shaughnessy, formerly with the Oakland Raiders.
