The Cardinals released former first-round pick RB Beanie Wells, the team announced Monday.
Wells played in only eight games in 2012, rushing 88 times for 234 yards and five touchdowns. He was coming off a career year in ’11, when he battled injuries to rush for 1,047 yards and 10 scores.
Wells missed three games in ’10 and rushed for 793 yards and seven TDs as a rookie in ’09. Wells was due $1.4 million in 2013.
The way we see it
The move puts third-year RB Ryan Williams at the top of Arizona's running-back depth chart, but he needs to prove he can stay healthy. Veterans Rashard Mendenhall and Reggie Bush are on the market and possibilities for Bruce Arians and the Cardinals.
