Cardinals RB James suspended for four games

The SportsXchange

Arizona Cardinals running back Javarris James has been suspended for the first four games of 2013 season for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

James, who has not played in an NFL game since 2010, will be allowed to participate in offseason and preseason activities with the Cardinals.

James, 25, spent the 2012 season on injured reserve after suffering a torn ACL in the Cardinals' preseason finale against Denver on Aug. 30.

He played in 10 games for Indianapolis in 2010, rushing for 112 yards and six touchdowns on 46 carries.

The University of Miami product and cousin of former NFL running back Edgerrin James was arrested in June 2011 in Fort Myers, Fla., for misdemeanor marijuana possession and waived by the Colts.
