Cardinals let WR Doucet go free

The SportsXchange

The Arizona Cardinals released oft-injured wide receiver Early Doucet on Sunday and extended a qualifying offer to backup quarterback Brian Hoyer.

Doucet had 28 receptions for 207 yards in 12 games last season and 139 career receptions for 1,491 yards and seven touchdowns with the Cardinals.

Hoyer joined the Cardinals late last season from New England. The four-year pro is a restricted free agent, but Arizona has the right to match other teams' offers.

According to reports, the Cardinals also made contract offers to running backs William Powell and Alfonso Smith and defensive end Ronald Talley.
