The Arizona Cardinals lost rookie left guard Jonathan Cooper for an indefinite period after he suffered a broken leg in the third quarter of Saturday night's 24-7 preseason loss to the San Diego Chargers.
Cooper, the No. 7 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, was blocking downfield during a running play when he was hurt while running back Alfonso Smith was tackled.
The Cardinals are hoping that Cooper could return later this season, coach Bruce Arians indicated to AZCardinals.com.
Arizona also sustained several other injuries during the game. Running back Rashard Mendenhall went down with a right knee problem and will undergo tests. Nose tackle Dan Williams and tight end Rob Housler suffered ankle injuries.
