St. Louis Cardinals third baseman David Freese avoided injury in a Thanksgiving Day auto accident in Wildwood, Mo. Freese crashed into a tree while attempted to avoid a deer on Thursday afternoon, St. Louis County police officer Randy Vaughn told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Vaughn said Freese missed the deer and had exited his SUV when police arrived at the scene. He did not seek medical treatment and alcohol was not a factor, according to the report. Freese, 29, hit .293 with 20 homers and 79 RBI during the 2012 regular season.
