Cardinals DST carries more risk than last year

The Cardinals DST finished sixth in Fantasy points last season while ranking first against the run. This is not that defense.

Arizona lost defensive tackle Darnell Dockett (torn ACL) and linebackers Karlos Dansby (free agency) and Daryl Washington (suspension), among others. That trio accounted for 14 sacks, six interceptions, two touchdowns and a fumble recovery. Linebacker John Abraham (11.5 sacks) reported late to camp following a DUI arrest and at age 36 is unlikely to repeat his 2013 production.

The Cardinals are counting on 34-year-old Larry Foote and unproven Kevin Minter at linebacker. Safety Tyrann Mathieu (knee) is not 100 percent yet. Arizona did add corner Antonio Cromartie to team with superstar Patrick Peterson.

Monday night, Arizona hosts an efficient Chargers' team that gave up the eighth-fewest Fantasy points (7.3 per game) to DSTs last year. Consider the Cardinals DST a low-end starting option at best.
