Center Manny Malhotra was placed on injured reserve and will miss the rest of the season, the Vancouver Canucks announced Thursday. The Canucks did not give a reason for Malhotra, 32, getting scratched for the season. He was hit in the left eye with a puck during a March 2011 game, though he returned in time for the Stanley Cup Finals and then played 78 games during the 2011-12 season. "The long term health of Manny Malhotra is of utmost importance to our organization," said Canucks general manager Mike Gillis in a statement. "Throughout his career Manny has showcased his indispensability through skilled play, being a consummate professional and leader in the room while also continuously giving back to the community. Manny will continue to be a valued member of our organization."
