MONTREAL -- Andrei Markov scored 4:22 into overtime to give the Montreal Canadiens a 4-3 win over the New Jersey Devils on Sunday night.

Markov got his fourth goal of the season with 37.8 seconds remaining after Devils defenseman Andy Greene was penalized for holding.

Greene was sent off with 58.1 seconds left in the extra period when he hauled Erik Cole down as the Montreal forward cut to the net.

Montreal rookie Alex Galchenyuk set up Brandon Prust's goal for his second assist of the game early in the third period. Prust deflected Galchenyuk's pass beyond Martin Brodeur two minutes into the third to put Montreal up 3-1.

Travis Moen and rookie Brendan Gallagher scored in the first to give the Canadiens an early 2-0 lead.

Carey Price made 22 saves for Montreal, which won its third in a row since losing its season opener to Toronto on Jan. 19.

Dainius Zubrus drew New Jersey even at 3 with his first goal of the season 13:02 into the third.

Clarkson also had a goal and two assists, and Brodeur stopped 28 shots for the Devils, who won their first three games of the season, including a 3-2 overtime win over Washington on Friday.

New Jersey's Ilya Kovalchuk put a shot off the right post on a 3-on-1 early in overtime.

The Canadiens blew leads of 2-0 and 3-1.

White opened the scoring at 2:25 of the first period with his first goal since Apr. 9, 2011. The Canadiens right winger had gone 23 games without scoring when he put a backhand into a wide open net after Travis Moen redirected Alexei Emelin's point shot.

Gallagher scored his first NHL goal 13:35 in on a centering pass by Galchenyuk. Gallagher got his first point in his Canadiens debut with an assist on 18-year-old Galchenyuk's first NHL goal in a 4-1 win over Florida on Tuesday.

Galchenyuk, who was chosen third overall by Montreal in the June 2012 draft, has three points in four games.

Elias deflected Mark Fayne's point shot past Carey Price for his second goal of the season 3:26 into the second to draw New Jersey within 2-1.

The Devils made the most of their two-man advantage when Prust and Galchenyuk were both called for high-sticking at 4:32 of the third.

Travis Zajac put a shot off the left post on a 2-on-1 with Kovalchuk 40 seconds in.
