In his search for a new club, Simeon Jackson already has one admirer.
The Canadian national team striker was released by English Premier League side Norwich City after making only five starts in league play this season, but it looks as though teams are starting to queue up for his signature.
Steve Lomas, the new boss at Championship side Millwall FC, said this of Jackson on the News at Den website: “He's the right type for us — he's quick and he can score goals. But I will be one of about 10 managers that wants Simeon Jackson because he's done very well at Norwich.”
On the field in Sweden’s Superattan, Nik Ledgerwood’s Hammarby got back to winning ways with a 1-0 win over Degerfors this past Saturday. In the Finnish second division, David Monsalve is still winless since joining AC Oulu. Monsalve was in goal for the third straight game as Oulu lost 1-0 to Haka. Since joining the club, Monsalve has two draws and the loss.
In Singapore, Jordan Webb and Home United’s League Cup run came to an end in the quarterfinals after they lost in penalty kicks to Albirex Niigata S. After a 1-1 draw through 120 minutes, Niigata won 8-7 on penalties.
There was finally a bit of success for Sherif El-Masri’s Young Lions after they picked up their first wins in any competition. El-Masri played all 90 minutes as Young Lions beat Tampines Rovers in the League Cup but they were still relegated to the consolation Plate round.
He wasn’t involved on Tuesday as Young Lions won their Plate semi-final with a 3-2 result over Warriors on Tuesday. The wins were their first in 17 games in all competitions this season.
