This week, ESPN ran a piece where David Newton, the Panthers beat writer, investigated what other players on rival NFC South teams really thought about Cam Newton. He asked his respective beat writers of the other NFC South teams to gather opinions. The results are not what you would necessarily believe.

I went in assuming that it would be a split pool, and I was wrong. I thought that some players wouldn’t be bothered too much by Cam Newton’s dancing and his other on field antics. I also thought that there would be another, smaller group of players that would be bothered by it. There always seems to be at least a small group that gets upset by what Cam does, so I assumed that the subject of Cam Newton would be the same.

Overall, it seemed as if Newton was liked, or at least not minded by his fellow players. Nearly all of his fellow players seem to respect his talent. The only hitch seemed to be on the Falcons, where their beat writers response ended with “they would side with Newton over Brady.” I don’t think that is very high praise.

Overall, Newton is well respected by players in his own division. There are some that aren’t big fans of his antics, but still respect his talent and the success that he has had.
