The Mustangs (2-3) went on a 19-0 run in the first half to lead 30-7, and continued to pull away. UND (2-2) scored just 19 points in the first 20 minutes, after a 10-1 rally right before the break cut the larger deficit.
Cal-Poly held UND's Troy Huff to six points and 20 percent from the field (2 of 10). Huff was named the Big Sky Player of the Week on Tuesday after averaging 34.5 points per game in a two-game split.
Dave Nwaba and Jamal Johnson (career-high) both picked up 13 points each and Chris Eversley pulled in 11 rebounds as the Mustangs shot 50.9 percent (28 of 55) from the floor in the opening game of the Global Sports Hardwood Challenge.
