The Oakland Raiders added linebacker Miles Burris to the active roster, re-signed defensive lineman Brian Sanford and placed cornerback DJ Hayden on injured reserve Wednesday.
Burris spent the first 11 weeks of the season on the physically unable to perform list while recovering from knee surgery. A year ago, he started 15 games and was third on the team with 138 tackles, including 84 solos. He added 1 1/2 sacks, one interception and one forced fumble.
Sanford was waived by the Raiders last Saturday after appearing in four games and starting one. He had seven tackles. The 6-foot-2, 280-pound Sanford was with the Cleveland Browns for three seasons.
Hayden, the Raiders' first-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft at No. 12 overall, started two games and played in eight this season before he sustained a groin injury. He had 29 tackles, two passes defensed, one interception and one forced fumble in his rookie season. His interception of a pass by San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers in the end zone sealed the Raiders' 27-17 victory over the Chargers earlier this season.
The Raiders made one other roster move, signing defensive tackle Ricky Lumpkin to the practice squad. Lumpkin was waived by the Arizona Cardinals on Sept. 6 after playing in one game during the 2012 season.
