Burnley seals promotion to the Premier League

Burnley has won automatic promotion back to the Premier League after a four-year absence from the top flight of English football.
A 2-0 victory against Wigan at Turf Moor on Monday ensured that the Clarets could finish no lower than second place in the Championship, despite third-placed Derby County picking up a win against Barnsley.

Ashley Barnes and Michael Kightly both netted in the first half after a nervy opening for the hosts, with Sean Dyche's men seeing out the result to claim promotion.

Burnley was last in the Premier League in the 2009-10 campaign, picking up just 30 points in a season that saw Owen Coyle dismissed and replaced by Brian Laws.

Dyche took over from Eddie Howe in October 2012 and finished 11th in his first season in charge before bringing the Clarets to the top flight this time around.

They will join Leicester City, with Nigel Pearson's men having secured automatic promotion April 5.
