Burke beats out Oladipo for Big Ten player of the year

The SportsXchange

Michigan guard Trey Burke was named Big Ten player of the year by both the media and the conference coaches, beating out Indiana's Victor Oladipo in results announced Monday.

The two are also among the front-runners for national player of the year honors, so this could be harbinger of that award as well.

Burke is averaging 19.2 points on 48.5 percent shooting, including 39.6 percent on three-pointers. He also averages 6.8 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.6 steals for the Wolverines, who finished fourth in the conference.

Oladipo averages 13.7 points while shooting 61.4 percent from the floor, including 46.4 percent on three-pointers. He averages 6.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.2 steals for the Hoosiers, who finished alone atop the Big Ten standings.
